I used Photoshop CS3 here, but I'm sure it will work in CS and CS2. This tutorial requires a basic knowledge of Photoshop, though it will make more sense if you've got a good grasp on photo editing to begin with.
This is the basis for all my coloring. I always start out the the same way: adjust lighting, add color fill layers, deepen shadows, sharpen. From there I tweak little things until I get a result I like.
Some notes:
- Always start with a photo that's good to begin with, i.e. well-lit, sharp, etc. We're not fixing so much as enhancing.
- Following this tutorial step-by-step will not produce the same results every time. It all depends on the photo you start out with. Don't be afraid to mess with settings and colors of layers. It's all about playing around till you see something you like.
Let me know if anything is unclear or if you have questions. And show me your results! I'm curious to know if this will work for other people. Also, I'm always up for breaking down my coloring process, so if there's a photo in my gallery you want to know how I did, go ahead and ask.
>o< Thanks really good. It's exactly how i do it, but i use CS2. There are few differences but nothing major to be honest. ^_^ I was worried about installing CS3, but i feel more confident now since it looks pretty much the same.
I love you for your copious amount of layers and your shortcuts and and and Ysrael ;~;
You did good! *tries*
And lol, this sounds lame, but the dark blue exclusion layer reminds me of my icon and layout makin' days XD OH THEM DAYS <3

Yeah! CS3 isn't all that different, the interface looks cleaner and more slick, and there are a few more features, but it's not so different. I really like it.
